According to reports the epicenter of the earthquake was in Bangladesh. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) stated that the depth of the earthquake was approximately 35 kilometers below the ground. According to the BMD Seismological Centre in Agargaon, Dhaka, the tremor was felt in the southwest direction, with effects reaching West Bengal.
Videos from Kolkata showed people rushing out of buildings. A local resident said they were sitting on a sofa when they suddenly felt the tremor. "The sofa and fan started shaking, and the bottle on the table fell down. We immediately ran out of the house," he said. Similar experiences were shared from several other areas.
Social media reactions began pouring in immediately after the earthquake. Users reported seeing fans, windows, and other items shaking in their homes. Some also shared videos and photos showing people standing in open spaces as a precaution.
