Senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi dismissed the allegations leveled against Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the National Herald case as completely baseless. He stated that the case is politically motivated and lacks any concrete evidence.
New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi described the allegations against Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case as politically motivated. Speaking at a press conference, he stated that the case was fabricated without any solid basis.
Singhvi explained that between 2021 and 2025, the ED (Enforcement Directorate) summoned and questioned Rahul Gandhi for approximately 50 hours. Sonia Gandhi and other leaders were also summoned for several hours on different dates. He added that the entire process was constantly in the media spotlight.
Singhvi said that the case originated from a private complaint filed by Subramanian Swamy in 2014. Following this, the ED and CBI investigated the matter for seven years, but were unable to substantiate the allegations on any concrete legal grounds. Singhvi emphasized that the court's recent decision clearly showed that the allegations lacked any valid basis and were entirely politically motivated. Singhvi also stressed the need to stop the political persecution of Congress leaders.
