New Delhi: In the 2025 Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student union elections, the United Left has once again demonstrated its strong hold, winning all four major posts. With this victory, the slogan of "Lal Salaam" (Red Salute) resonated once again on campus.

Aditi Mishra has been elected the new president, while K. Gopika Babu won the vice-president's post, Sunil Yadav the general secretary's post, and Danish the joint secretary's post.

This victory is considered a politically historic moment not only for the organization but for the entire JNU campus, as the Left Unity has captured the entire panel after several years.

Margin of Victory

Aditi Mishra defeated her opponent Vikas Patel (ABVP) for the president's post by a margin of 512 votes. For the vice-president's post, K. Gopika defeated Sheikh Shahnawaz Alam of NSUI.

Sunil Yadav defeated Abhishek Kumar of ABVP for the general secretary's post, while Danish completed the Left's victory by defeating Tanya Kumari of ABVP for the joint secretary's post.

These results have once again proven that the Left's base in JNU politics is still strong and that students continue to have faith in their policies.

Echo of 'Lal Salaam' on Campus

As soon as the results were declared, the JNU campus erupted in celebrations. Left supporters filled the entire campus with slogans of 'Lal Salaam' and 'Inquilab Zindabad' (Long Live the Revolution).

Students celebrated the victory with drums, music, and songs. Student leaders from other colleges, including Delhi University, also arrived at JNU and congratulated the winning panel.

The atmosphere of enthusiasm continued throughout the night on campus. The administration had made strict security arrangements, and no untoward incident was reported anywhere.

National Impact of JNU Politics

JNU has always been an ideological center of student politics across the country. Elections here often influence the direction of national politics as well.

This victory for the United Left is being seen as a restoration of the ideology that advocates for social justice, equality, and freedom of expression.

Political analysts believe that these results could give new energy to the Left ideology in other universities in the coming days. Furthermore, this victory will strengthen discussions on social issues, education, and democracy among JNU students.

This victory of the United Left, under the leadership of Aditi Mishra, adds a new chapter to the history of JNU. These results show that JNU students still stand for collectivism, progressive thinking, and social justice.
