US President Donald Trump held a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi
New Delhi: India next week in Washington D.C. It is going to send an official delegation to Washington, where important trade talks with the United States will resume. This conversation is considered very important for finalizing a possible interim trade agreement.
Recently, there was a phone conversation between Narendra Modi and Donald Trump for about 40 minutes. It is believed that this conversation has given new momentum in taking forward the trade deal between the two countries.
This agreement between India and America has been under discussion for a long time. This deal will ease the trade of both countries and will help in reducing tariffs (taxes) in many sectors. In this meeting, especially those issues that are still pending will be discussed.
Recently America has changed its tariff policy. After the decision of the Supreme Court of the United States, America imposed a temporary tariff of 10% on all countries.
This change reduced the benefit to India, because earlier there was talk of reducing the tariff for India by 18%.
The meeting was postponed last month due to a sudden change in tariff rules. Now that the new policy has become clear, both the countries will try to resolve their differences by talking again. Pressure increased due to the Section 301 investigation.
America has started investigating the trade policies of many countries under Section 301, which also includes India. This investigation will look at whether the policies of some countries are harmful to American business. This issue can also be discussed in the meeting to be held in Washington.
This dialogue between India and America is very important for the economic relations between the two countries. If this deal is successful, trade relations will become stronger. However, issues like tariffs and inspections still remain a challenge.
