New Delhi: On the second day of the five-day AI Impact Summit 2026 held in the national capital, Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the core objective of the summit is to understand how artificial intelligence can be used for public good and the benefit of all. Writing on the social media platform 'X', he emphasized the need to connect science and technology with human welfare and called responsible AI development the need of the hour.

Large Participation of Global Leaders and Experts

Hundreds of experts, including heads of state, ministers, heads of global technology companies, researchers, and representatives of multilateral institutions, are participating in the summit. The event, which runs until February 20, is attended by over 100 government representatives, over 20 heads of state, and over 60 ministers and deputy ministers.

Additionally, over 500 global AI leaders - including CEOs, founders, academics, and members of philanthropic organizations - are considering the role of AI in inclusive development, strong public systems, and a sustainable future.

This is also the first time that such a large-scale global AI conference is being held in the Global South, further strengthening India's technological leadership.

Key Initiatives like AI for All, AI by Her, and YuvAI

The summit's key highlights are three Global Impact Challenges - AI for All, AI by Her, and YuvAI - that aim to promote inclusive and responsible AI solutions. These initiatives received over 4,650 applications from over 60 countries. After a multi-layered evaluation, the top 70 teams across all three categories were selected as finalists and will have the opportunity to engage with policymakers, investors, and industry. This is expected to accelerate innovation aligned with national priorities and global development goals.

Global Dialogue at Research Symposium

A research symposium organized in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, on February 18th, is discussing the scientific, social, and policy implications of AI. Several international experts, including Estonian President Alar Karis and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, are participating in the forum. Nearly 250 research presentations from Africa, Asia, and Latin America reflect the growing global interest in AI.
