On Thursday, flight AI-2017 from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) to London had to abort takeoff due to a technical snag, sending passengers into panic. The alarming incident occurred when the aircraft, already at full speed on the runway, was suddenly brought to a halt by pilots applying emergency brakes.

What was the whole matter?

• Flight AI-2017 was to leave for London at 4:45 pm, but passengers were boarded with a delay of about one and a half hours.
• At 6:10 pm, the aircraft proceeded for takeoff on the runway and started gaining momentum. Then the pilots came to know about a technical flaw, after which they decided to abort the takeoff, keeping in mind the security.
• The emergency braking caused the passenger and cabin crew present in the aircraft. However, the situation became normal after some time, and the aircraft was taken back to the parking area.
• All passengers were safely taken off and sent back to the terminal.

Air India said on the incident that the pilots canceled the takeoff by following the standard protocol (SOP) due to the "technical problem." Another aircraft is being arranged to bring passengers to London at the earliest. The airline insisted that their highest priority is the safety of passengers.
