New Delhi: The Army received from the United States the first batch of Apache Helicopters in its aviation fleet on Tuesday. it is considered to be a significant boost to its operational capabilities.

The consignment of Apache helicopters arrived at Hindon Airbase.

The Army described the induction of Apache Helicopters as a "milestone". In a social media post, the Army said that the arrival of the state-of-the-art platforms will "significantly enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Army."

The Army wrote on X: "Apache milestone moment for the Indian Army as the first batch of Apache helicopters for Army Aviation has arrived in India today. These state-of-the-art platforms will significantly enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Army."

Air Force Fleet

It may be mentioned that the Air Force already has a fleet of 22 Apache helicopters, which have been deployed in Ladakh and western areas. The helicopter is capable of carrying a variety of weapons, including air-to-ground Hellfire missiles, 70 mm Hydra rockets and air-to-air Stinger missiles.

Apache Features

The Apache is equipped with a number of features including a 30mm chain gun with 1200 rounds as part of the regional weapon sub-system. To further enhance its lethality, the helicopter also has a fire control radar with 360° coverage and a nose mounted sensor suite for target acquisition and night vision systems.

Modern Configuration

The AH-64E is the most modern configuration of the Apache and is ready for the MDO battlefield. A network-centric, fully integrated weapon system designed specifically to dominate a highly contested and complex battlefield, the AH-64E Version 6, or v6, Apache features numerous enhancements to the aircraft's sensors, software and weapons performance.
