Guwahati: A massive blast on the railway track between Salakati and Kokrajhar in the Alipurduar Division of Northeast Frontier Railway (NF Railway) on early Thursday disrupted and delayed train services.

It is suspected that the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) which blew up a part of the track.

An official of Northeast Frontier Railway said that the blast occurred about an hour after midnight, when the UP Azara Sugar goods train was passing through this section. The train manager had reported that a sudden and very heavy jerk resulted an emergency halt.
