New Delhi: The interim government of Bangladesh, headed by Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, has condemned the alleged mob killing of a Hindu youth in Mymensingh. The incident occurred as the country was gripped by violent protests and instability following the death of youth leader Osman Hadi.

The government issued a statement saying, “We strongly condemn this incident. There is no place for such violence in the new Bangladesh. No one involved in this barbaric crime will be spared.”

Yunus's press secretary, Shafiqul Alam, posted a statement in Bengali on Facebook, saying the administration “strongly and unequivocally condemns the violence, fear, arson, and loss of life and property.”

Government Expresses Support for Journalists and Media Outlets

The government, referring to Hadi as a martyr, appealed to the public to refrain from violence, incitement, and hatred. It also expressed solidarity with the journalists of leading newspapers The Daily Star, Prothom Alo, and New Age, whose offices were set ablaze by mobs.

The government stated, “We stand with you. We deeply regret the terror and violence you have had to endure. An attack on journalists is an attack on truth. We guarantee full justice.”

Yunus Assures Swift Action

In a late-night televised address to the nation, Yunus confirmed Hadi's death and promised the swift apprehension of his killers. He said, “Today I bring you very sad news. Martyr Osman Hadi, the fearless leader of the July uprising and spokesperson of the Inqilab Mancha, is no longer with us.”

He stated that there would be no leniency towards those involved in this brutal murder and requested all citizens to maintain patience, urging them to allow law enforcement agencies to conduct their investigation professionally.
