Ravi Shankar Prasad Addressing the Press Conference
New Delhi: In a press conference addressed by Ravi Shankar Prasad, the BJP vigorously condemned the controversial statements of some Congress leaders on the Pahalgam Terrorist Attack, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
BJP described the statements made by Congress leaders after the Pulwama attack as "insensitive" and "anti-national".
"Terrorists do not ask religion, they shoot directly"
BJP leaders rejected the statement of Karnataka Excise Minister Ramappa Timmapur, who had said, "In the Pulwama attack, the terrorists did not ask the tourists about their religion. The one who has to shoot kills directly."
Conversely, the families of two tourists from Karnataka, who were killed by the terrorists, claimed that the terrorists had asked about their religion before killing them.
The BJP firmly challenged this, stating that Congress leaders are creating "false narratives."
Uproar over the statement of Maharashtra Congress leader
BJP also reacted sharply to the statement of Congress MLA Vijay Wadettiwar from Maharashtra. Wadettiwar had said that "terrorists do not have time to ask people about their religion."
The BJP called it a "shameless statement" and said that such leaders are undermining the country's unity. The party also said that ignoring the pain of the victims' families shows the "insensitivity" of the Congress.
Questions on Mani Shankar Aiyar's controversial statement
The BJP also targeted the statement of former Union Minister and Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar.
Aiyar had said, " We could not dissolve the consequences of Partition till date." The BJP asked whether this means Congress is still doing the politics of division. The party leader said, "What Leaders like Mani Shankar Aiyar are trying to do. What does it mean?"
"False allegations to make minorities uncomfortable"
The BJP accused the Congress of spreading "fake narratives". Some Congress leaders had claimed that "minorities are feeling unsafe." The BJP responded by saying that the government is committed to the safety of all citizens and such statements only serve to spread tension in the country.
BJP Flaks Robert Vadra
Reacting specifically to Robert Vadra's statement, the BJP leader said, "I do not want to take Robert Vadra's name under the principle of equality, because he has already been discussed a lot in corruption cases. Such a person is not in a position to give knowledge to the country.
"Need to maintain unity"
The BJP in its address appealed to the countrymen to remain united. The party said that everyone should come together in the fight against terrorism and not make the situation worse by making controversial statements. The message of the press conference was clear: "The security of the country is paramount, and politics should be above it."
