New Delhi: Vote counting is currently underway in West Bengal, and early trends show the BJP maintaining a lead on 180 seats. The TMC is trailing on 102 seats. A major shift in the state's politics is evident this time around, with the impact of a "Saffron Wave" clearly visible across several regions.

1. Jhalmuri Politics and Local Connect

The BJP established a direct connection with the masses by engaging with local culture and addressing grassroots-level issues. Through its "Jhalmuri Politics" strategy, the party built a strong foothold at the ground level, yielding a tangible impact in both urban and rural areas.

2. 'SIR' and Administrative Issues

In certain regions, discontent emerged regarding the 'SIR' (the ruling establishment) and specific administrative decisions. This dissatisfaction influenced local voting patterns and appeared to work to the advantage of the opposition.

3. Reservation and Social Equations

Issues related to reservation and social justice significantly influenced the vote bank. Perceived imbalances among various communities altered the electoral dynamics.

4. Strong Organization, the Modi-Shah Factor, and Anti-Incumbency

The BJP's robust organizational structure and efficient booth management proved to be its greatest strengths. Complementing this, the strategic acumen of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah lent significant strength to the party. Simultaneously, the effects of anti-incumbency-stemming from a long tenure in power-and public resentment toward the incumbent government were also clearly visible.

5. Social Engineering and Securing New Vote Banks

This time around, the BJP placed a special focus on social engineering and successfully managed to consolidate new vote banks. This strategy further solidified the party's lead.

As of now, the trends are still evolving, and the complete picture will only become clear once the final results are declared.
