New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched a special book on Operation Sindoor, chronicling personal stories of soldiers participating in the military operation that was undertaken in the aftermath of the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack.

The book launch was held amid the presence of various senior military officials. As per the Defence Ministry, the book contains first hand accounts of soldiers of the Army, Navy and Air Force who were involved in the military operation.

Experience of soldiers in focus

While addressing the gathering, Singh said that the book highlights courage and dedication of the military forces through its experiences outside official reports and documents.

"Operation Sindoor is like a golden chapter in India’s military history," the Defence Minister said, as per the Ministry of Defence. He added that the operation exhibited seamless joint operations of the three services, showcasing India's preparedness to deal with the threat of terrorism in a coordinated manner.

The Ministry of Defence said that the book would contain battlefield experience and operational difficulties faced by the soldiers.

Operation Sindoor following terror attacks in Pahalgam

Operation Sindoor was launched in May 2025 after a terror attack in Pahalgam where 26 civilians lost their lives. Official statements issued then said that Indian forces targeted terrorist facilities along the LoC and in Pakistani-held areas.

Speaking on the first anniversary of the operation, Singh described Operation Sindoor as a reflection of India's policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism. In addition, he pointed out that the military operation also signalled the coordination of the government and military forces.

A series of special events have been held throughout the month, including documentary screenings and military exhibits, to commemorate Operation Sindoor. According to statements released by the Ministry of Defence, the book is aimed at preserving the experiences of soldiers for posterity.
