An encounter is underway in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir, as security forces engage three trapped terrorists in Kahog village. CRPF and SOG teams are involved in the joint operation amid challenging terrain and darkness.

Kathua: An intense encounter is currently underway between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district. Officials confirmed that the gunfight began on Wednesday evening in Kahog village of the Billawar area after security forces received inputs about the presence of two to three terrorists.
According to Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu, Bhim Sen Tuti, the Special Operations Group (SOG) Kathua is actively engaging the terrorists in the forested area of Kamadh Nullah.

He highlighted the challenges posed by darkness, thick vegetation, and difficult terrain, but noted that the SOG is relentlessly pursuing the operation. Teams from the CRPF are also participating in the joint operation to neutralise the suspects.

Locals reported seeing one of the terrorists around 4 pm near Kamad Nallah in the Billawar police station area. Sources suggest that this could be the same individual who was spotted earlier in the day at Dhannu Parole.
Officials confirmed that additional security forces have been rushed to the area to contain and eliminate the threat.
At present, the encounter is ongoing, with reports indicating that three terrorists are trapped by the security forces. Authorities have appealed to residents to remain indoors and avoid the area until the operation concludes.
The Kathua encounter comes amid continued efforts by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir to target terrorist hideouts and ensure civilian safety. Updates on the outcome of the operation are expected once the area is secured.
