Bus catches fire on Jaisalmer-Jodhpur highway; 15 passengers injured

Jaisalmer: On Tuesday afternoon, a private bus traveling from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur suddenly caught fire. Approximately 15 passengers, including three children and four women, were burned in the accident. The injured were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital, while some passengers with serious burns were referred to Jodhpur.

It is reported that the bus departed from Jaisalmer for Jodhpur at 3 pm as usual. After traveling approximately 20 kilometers, smoke suddenly began to rise from the rear of the bus. Before the passengers and driver could understand, the bus was engulfed in flames.

Passengers Saved Their Lives By Breaking Windows

After the fire, there was a commotion in the bus. Passengers broke the windows and jumped out of the bus to save their lives. Many passengers' clothes and belongings were burned. Meanwhile, nearby villagers and passersby immediately rushed to the scene and helped the injured. The fire department and police were informed to expedite the rescue operation.

Fire Crew Extinguishes Fire

Fire engines arrived at the scene within minutes and brought the fire under control after considerable effort. Police and fire officials have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire. Initial investigations suggest a short circuit in the bus's engine or wiring may have caused the fire.

Severely Burned Passengers Continue To Receive Treatment

Several passengers sustained severe burns in the accident. Among them, Omaram Bhil (30), a resident of Lathi, has been referred to a hospital in Jodhpur. Imamat (30) and her son, Yunus, were also caught in the fire and are undergoing treatment at a Jodhpur hospital. Other injured are also receiving treatment at local hospitals.

Police Investigating Incident

Police are investigating the incident to determine the cause of the fire and to prevent similar incidents in the future. The incident has also raised questions about security in the area.
