New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday declared the Class 12 results 2026, with girls once again outperforming boys in the exams. The overall pass percentage this year stood at 85.20 per cent, lower than last year’s 88.39 per cent.

According to official data released by the board, girls achieved a pass percentage of 88.86 per cent, while boys recorded 82.13 per cent. The gap between the two stood at 6.73 percentage points, continuing the trend of girls performing better in CBSE board examinations.

Over 15 Lakh Students Pass

This year, 17,80,365 students registered for the CBSE Class 12 examinations. Out of them, 16,92,794 students appeared for the exams, while 15,07,109 candidates successfully cleared them.

The exams were conducted between February and April 2026 at centres across India and abroad. Students from Science, Commerce, and Humanities streams took part in the annual board examinations.

CBSE also announced that transgender students recorded a 100 per cent pass rate this year.

Trivandrum Tops Regional Rankings

Among all regions, Trivandrum emerged as the best-performing region with a pass percentage of 95.62 per cent. Chennai followed closely with 93.84 per cent, while Bengaluru secured the third position at 93.19 per cent.

Delhi regions also posted strong performances. Delhi West recorded a pass percentage of 92.34 per cent, while Delhi East stood at 91.73 per cent.

At the other end, Prayagraj reported the lowest pass percentage at 72.43 per cent.

Rise In Compartment Cases

CBSE data also showed an increase in the number of students placed in the compartment category. A total of 1,63,800 students received compartment status this year, significantly higher than last year’s 1,29,095.

Students can access their results through the official CBSE websites, DigiLocker, UMANG app, IVRS, and SMS services.
