New Delhi: India has dismissed claims circulating on social media about alleged “slow encroachment” by China in Arunachal Pradesh, saying there is no such situation on the ground. Government sources said Indian security forces are fully prepared to monitor border activities and protect the country’s territorial integrity.
Sources said the Indian Army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) continue to maintain a strong presence along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and are equipped to respond to any developments along the sensitive border.
The remarks came after some social media posts claimed that China was gradually expanding its presence in parts of Arunachal Pradesh. Officials rejected these claims, calling them misleading and without evidence.
India has repeatedly stated that Arunachal Pradesh is an inseparable part of the country and has rejected China’s claims over the northeastern state.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has also made it clear that China’s attempts to assign new names to places in Arunachal Pradesh or raise territorial claims cannot change the ground reality.
India has maintained that peace and stability along the India-China border are essential for maintaining overall bilateral relations.
Sources pointed out that the India-China boundary remains undemarcated in several areas, which occasionally leads to face-offs between patrol teams from both sides.
However, such situations are managed through established military and diplomatic channels to prevent escalation.
The eastern sector, including Arunachal Pradesh, has remained a key area of concern since the 1962 India-China war. During the conflict, Chinese forces launched operations in several valleys of the region before withdrawing after the ceasefire.
In recent years, India has increased infrastructure development and surveillance capabilities in border areas to improve connectivity and strengthen security.
Better roads, advanced communication systems and improved logistics have helped security forces maintain regular patrolling in difficult terrains.
Sources said the Army and ITBP remain prepared to monitor every movement along the border and ensure that India’s interests are protected.
China has repeatedly referred to Arunachal Pradesh as part of “South Tibet”, a claim India has strongly opposed.
New Delhi has maintained that such statements have no impact on the legal and factual status of Arunachal Pradesh, which remains an integral part of India.
