New Delhi: Security has been tightened across the national capital ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar. Delhi Police have detained several protesters, while security agencies are monitoring the situation through drones and CCTV cameras to prevent any untoward incident.
Delhi Police have denied permission for the proposed demonstration, citing the timing of the application, alleged violations during previous protests and restrictions imposed in the New Delhi area. Authorities remain on alert to prevent unauthorised gatherings and maintain law and order.
According to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), selected entry and exit gates at 57 metro stations have been closed since October 9 for security reasons. These restrictions will remain in force until 6 PM on October 10.

Commuters have been advised to check the status of gates at their respective stations before travelling and plan their journeys accordingly.
Delhi Police issued a statement a day before the proposed demonstration, explaining the reasons for denying permission. According to the police, the application seeking approval for the October 10 protest was received on October 7, which authorities said did not meet the prescribed timeline.
Police also cited alleged violations of rules during previous demonstrations and restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in the New Delhi area.
Authorities have warned that legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the applicable restrictions and regulations.
Security arrangements have been strengthened at various border points, with police conducting checks to prevent unauthorised gatherings. According to a senior police official in South Delhi, authorities are also identifying members of organisations that have called for participation in the protest and attempting to stop and persuade them not to proceed.
