New Delhi: Climate activist and innovator Sonam Wangchuk joined the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday, extending support to demonstrators demanding accountability in the alleged NEET paper leak case and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Addressing protesters, Wangchuk said the issue was not limited to a single examination but reflected a broader crisis of trust in India's education system. He urged authorities to take decisive action against those responsible and ensure transparency in recruitment and examination processes.

6-week fast warning

In a strong warning to the government, Wangchuk announced that he would undertake a six-week fast if meaningful action was not initiated to address concerns raised by students and restore public confidence in the system.

The protest, organised by the social media-driven Cockroach Janta Party, drew participants from several states. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, who arrived in Delhi from the United States earlier in the day, led the demonstration after receiving permission from Delhi Police.

Organisers claimed that a petition seeking the Education Minister's resignation has gathered more than eight lakh signatures. Protesters carried placards demanding accountability, justice for students, and reforms to safeguard the integrity of competitive examinations.

Delhi Police deployed extensive security arrangements around Jantar Mantar and nearby areas, with around 2,000 personnel stationed to maintain law and order.

The demonstration marks one of the largest offline mobilisations by the Cockroach Janta Party since its launch in May. The movement, which began as a satirical digital campaign, has rapidly expanded its presence on social media and is increasingly positioning itself as a platform for civic and political activism.
