Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge have launched sharp attacks on the BJP over the Indore contaminated water tragedy that claimed 15 lives. Alleging administrative failure and negligence, Rahul questioned how sewage mixed with drinking water and why complaints were ignored.

Indore Water Tragedy: Rahul Gandhi Slams BJP Over 15 Deaths
Indore: The case of 15 deaths due to drinking contaminated water in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, has escalated politically. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party and the state administration over the incident. He criticized the government on the social media platform X, calling it a result of administrative negligence and insensitivity.
In his post, Rahul Gandhi wrote that "poison was distributed, not water" in Indore, and the administration remained in a deep slumber. He said that mourning prevailed in every home, poor families were helpless, yet the statements of BJP leaders were full of arrogance. Rahul questioned why timely action was not taken when people repeatedly complained about smelly and dirty water.

The Congress MP raised several direct questions: how did sewer water get into the drinking water supply, why was the water supply not stopped in time, and when will action be taken against the responsible officers and leaders. He said that these questions are not "freebies" but demands for accountability. Rahul Gandhi stressed that clean water is not a favor, but a fundamental right of citizens.
Rahul Gandhi alleged that the BJP's "double-engine government," its negligent administration, and insensitive leadership were solely responsible for this tragedy. Calling Madhya Pradesh the "epicenter of misgovernance," he said, "deaths sometimes occur due to poisonous cough syrup, sometimes due to negligence in government hospitals, and now people are dying due to contaminated water."
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also criticized the central and state governments on this issue. He said that the government, which has been trumpeting the Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, is silent on this serious issue. Kharge sarcastically said that in Indore, known as the "cleanest city," people are today yearning for clean water.
Kharge wrote that the country has been listening to the hollow claims of the double-engine government for 11 years. They alleged that every scheme is rife with corruption and fraud, and the common people are bearing the brunt of it. Congress leaders demanded strict action against the culprits and justice for the families of the victims.
