New Delhi: A fresh controversy has erupted over the alleged scuffle between influencer Swatantra Bharadwaj and the father of student activist Nishu Aazad during the Jantar Mantar protest. A video of Nishu Aazad’s father has gone viral, in which he claims that police intervention prevented a bigger confrontation between the two.
In the viral clip, Nishu Aazad’s father appears to confirm that a physical altercation took place with Bharadwaj during the protest. He challenged the influencer for a direct one-on-one confrontation, alleging that the incident was being presented differently.
He said that some people were claiming they had achieved something major after the clash, adding that the situation could have escalated further if police personnel had not intervened.
The video surfaced amid allegations that Bharadwaj assaulted Aazad’s father during the Jantar Mantar demonstration. The incident has drawn political and public attention after Bharadwaj’s remarks in an interview went viral.
Delhi Police detained Swatantra Bharadwaj from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, following protests and demands for action by members of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). The protesters had gathered outside the Parliament Street Police Station, seeking his arrest over the alleged assault.
The action came after police assured protesters that the matter would be investigated and action would be taken within the given timeline.
The controversy intensified after a video surfaced in which Bharadwaj allegedly claimed that he had injured Nishu Aazad’s father during the protest but avoided serious action due to political connections. Later, Bharadwaj clarified that the incident was an act of self-defence.
Nishu Aazad has demanded strict action, while political leaders and activists have also reacted to the controversy.
The police investigation into the matter is underway, with both sides presenting their versions of the incident.
