New Delhi: The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a special traffic advisory regarding the full dress rehearsal of the Beating Retreat ceremony to be held at Vijay Chowk today on January 27, in the capital Delhi. To ensure security and the smooth conduct of the ceremony, traffic restrictions will be imposed on several major roads for a few hours. The traffic police have appealed to the public to use alternative routes and plan their travel in advance.
According to the Delhi Traffic Police, normal vehicular movement will be prohibited in Vijay Chowk and surrounding areas from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on January 27. Vijay Chowk will be completely closed during this period. Raisina Road (from Krishi Bhawan towards Vijay Chowk), Kartavya Path (from Vijay Chowk to Rafi Marg Crossing), Dara Shikoh Road, Krishna Menon Marg, and the road leading to Vijay Chowk from the Sunehri Masjid area will also be affected. Only authorized vehicles will be permitted on these roads.
Delhi traffic police advise commuters to avoid India Gate C-Hexagon
To avoid traffic jams, the Delhi Traffic Police has advised commuters to use alternative routes. People can travel via Ring Road, Ridge Road, Aurobindo Marg, Madrasa T-Point, Safdarjung Road to Kamal Ataturk Marg, Rani Jhansi Road, and Minto Road. These routes will avoid congestion in areas affected by the rehearsal.
The Traffic Police stated that for real-time traffic updates and assistance, citizens can contact the Delhi Traffic Police's official website, social media platforms, and helpline numbers 1095 or 011-25844444. Police personnel deployed at major intersections will assist in providing directions and maintaining smooth traffic flow.
The Delhi Traffic Police has appealed to drivers to maintain patience, follow rules, and avoid unnecessary travel. Police say these restrictions are temporary and have been imposed for security reasons so that preparations for the Beating Retreat ceremony can be completed without disruption.
