Delhi Police have granted permission for Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s October 30 concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium after discussions with the organisers over security arrangements.

The organisers reportedly held several meetings with police officials and presented detailed security plans before receiving approval.

Security Concerns Behind Earlier Rejection

Police had earlier refused permission for Dosanjh’s "Aura India Tour" concert, citing specific threat-related inputs and security and law-and-order commitments during the festive season.

In a letter dated October 21, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Anant Mittal informed BookMyShow Live Private Limited director Anil Makhija that the request to hold the concert could not be approved.

The letter cited “specific threat-related inputs” alongside security requirements and law-and-order concerns linked to the festive season.

India Tour To Cover Seven Cities

The Delhi concert is scheduled to launch the India leg of Dosanjh’s "Aura Tour". After the national capital, the singer is set to perform in Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Chandigarh.

The earlier refusal drew criticism from Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj, who accused the government of targeting artists who had spoken against it.

Bharadwaj argued that Dosanjh had supported protesting farmers and students and that the decision could turn the singer into a “superhero for the youth”.

He said it was unfortunate that successful industrialists and popular stars began fearing the government once they achieved financial success or celebrity status.

Bharadwaj further alleged that denying permission sent a message to celebrities that their professional activities could be stopped if they spoke out against the government.
