New Delhi: Schools and colleges in the national capital are changing their academic schedules ahead of the proposed CJP protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10, with online classes, postponed examinations and cancelled campus activities announced amid security concerns and anticipated transport disruptions.

The changes are affecting students across the capital. Sardar Patel Vidyalaya has moved classes for students in Classes 6 to 12 online, while Bharati Vidyapeeth's College of Engineering and Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology have postponed their mid-term examinations to October 12. Other schools have rescheduled parent-teacher meetings and cancelled extracurricular activities.

The developments come as Delhi prepares for heightened security arrangements around the protest. Barricading in parts of New Delhi and anticipated restrictions at several Metro stations have raised concerns about whether students, teachers and parents will be able to reach campuses without difficulty.

Delhi School Online Classes: What Students Need To Know

Sardar Patel Vidyalaya has informed parents that students from Classes 6 to 12 will attend online classes on Saturday, October 10. The school cited extensive barricading in the New Delhi area and concerns about students' safety while travelling to and from the campus.

The school has also discontinued its stay-back facility for students on Friday. Its Activity Week inauguration, scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed, with a new date to be announced later.

The decision allows students to continue their studies remotely while avoiding potential travel difficulties during the security arrangements. Parents should check the school's official communication for online class links and any additional instructions.

Raghubir Singh Junior Modern School has postponed its parent-teacher meeting scheduled for Saturday. The meeting was intended to discuss students' report cards and academic progress. The school has said that parents will be informed about the revised schedule. The change could affect families who had planned to visit the campus to discuss academic performance, attendance and other school-related matters.

Bharati Vidya Bhavan's Mehta Vidyalaya on Kasturba Gandhi Marg has cancelled sports day practice and enrichment classes scheduled for Saturday for students in Classes 9 to 12. The school cited the proposed protest at Jantar Mantar and student safety concerns. The move affects both extracurricular preparations and additional learning activities planned for the day.

These changes highlight how security arrangements around a major public event can affect school operations beyond classroom teaching, including sports practice, enrichment programmes and parent meetings.

Private Colleges Postpone Exams

Bharati Vidyapeeth's College of Engineering in Paschim Vihar has postponed its mid-term examinations scheduled for October 10 to 12. The college cited anticipated restrictions on entry and exit gates at several Delhi Metro stations and the possibility of service disruptions. The decision followed directions from the dean of the University School of Information, Communication and Technology (USICT) at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), along with communication from the Joint Commissioner of Police, Transport Range, Delhi.

The college has clarified that examination timings will remain unchanged on the revised date. Students should check the official notice and contact their departments if they need clarification about the revised examination schedule.

The Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology in Rohini has also postponed its mid-term examinations scheduled for October 10 to October 12. The institute said the decision followed communication from Delhi Police about anticipated Metro restrictions. The revised schedule was approved by the dean of USICT at GGSIPU and the BTech Programme Coordination Committee.

Department heads have been asked to inform faculty members and students about the changes. Students should follow official institute announcements for any further updates. The decision means students at two engineering colleges will have additional time before their mid-term examinations, although they should confirm the revised reporting time and other examination instructions directly with their institutions.

The changes come ahead of the proposed CJP demonstration at Jantar Mantar, amid stepped-up security arrangements across parts of the national capital. Authorities have been preparing for the protest with barricading and anticipated restrictions affecting Metro station access. These measures have raised concerns about travel times, road congestion and access to educational institutions.

For students who depend on the Delhi Metro or other public transport, disruptions can create uncertainty about reaching examination centres and campuses on time. Parents travelling for report-card meetings may also face difficulties, while teachers and other staff could encounter delays. Schools and colleges have taken different precautionary steps depending on their schedules and anticipated travel requirements. These include switching to online learning, postponing exams, rescheduling parent-teacher meetings and cancelling activities.
