How will the weather in Delhi be today?
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in Delhi is expected to be clear today. Mist and light fog were seen in many areas during the morning. Sunshine is expected during the day.
On Tuesday, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be around 28 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature around 11 degrees Celsius.
The cold wave is likely to persist in the capital today. A cold wave is expected in various parts of Delhi from November 10th to 12th.
Aya Nagar recorded the lowest temperature
The lowest temperature in Delhi on Monday was 9.9 degrees Celsius at Aya Nagar station, 5.6 degrees below normal. Safdarjung recorded a minimum temperature of 10.4 degrees Celsius, 3.9 degrees below the season's average. This is the lowest temperature recorded so far this season.
On November 6, temperatures dropped below 15 degrees Celsius for the first time. The maximum temperature was recorded at 27.5 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal. According to IMD records, the lowest minimum temperature in Delhi until November 10, 2024, was 9.5 degrees Celsius. In 2023, the minimum temperature was 9.2 degrees Celsius, and in 2022, it was 7.3 degrees Celsius.
What is a cold wave?
According to the International Monetary Fund (IMD), a cold wave is defined as a period when the minimum temperature is significantly below normal.
In the plains, a cold wave is defined as a minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius or less, or a temperature 4.5 to 6.4 degrees Celsius below normal for two consecutive days.
