Delhi sweet shop owner urges Rahul Gandhi to get married; Waiting for wedding sweets order

New Delhi: In a delightful Diwali surprise, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, paid a visit to the iconic Ghantewala Sweet Shop in Chandni Chowk here in Delhi, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Rahul Gandhi extended his warm Diwali greetings to his countrymen. In a post on X, he extended greetings to the people of the country. He wrote “May India be illuminated with the lamps of joy, may the light of happiness, prosperity, and love spread in every home.”

There at the Ghantewala Shop he also made Imarti and gram flour laddus (besan). Rahul Gandhi later posted the video of his shop visit on social media X and wrote said the true sweetness of Diwali lies not just in the ‘thali’, but also in relationships and community. “Tried my hand at making imarti and besan laddoo at the famous and historic Ghantewala sweet shop in old Delhi.”

Later Sushant Jain said, “Late Rajiv ji, really liked imarti, so I said, sir, you should try that. So he made imarti. He really likes besan laddus too, so I said, sir, you can make those as well. So he made these two items.”

About the Ghantewala shop Rahul Gandhi said “The sweetness of this centuries-old, iconic shop remains the same – pure, traditional, and heartwarming.”

The shop owner Sushant Jain requested and urged Rahul Gandhi to get married soon so that he can get the wedding mithai order. Jain said that Rahul Gandhi is the most eligible bachelor.

Jain said, “I said, Rahul ji, please get married soon — we’re waiting, so that we can get the order for your wedding sweets too.”

He said that this is not the first time that Rahul Gandhi has visited our shop. ‘Infact we have been serving sweets to the Gandhi family since ages,’ added Jain.
