CJP March Targets CEC Gyanesh Kumar Over SIR Row, Leaders’ Arrests

The CJP has called for the march to protest the arrest of its leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka and to renew its demand for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

With Jantar Mantar no longer designated as a protest site, the party has announced Central Park as the venue for the gathering. The proposed demonstration has also drawn support from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the All India Students’ Association (AISA).

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has ordered Central Park to remain closed to the public on October 16 and 17, citing administrative reasons in view of the planned gathering. Delhi Police has also appealed to the public to avoid assembling at the venue.
