New Delhi: A significant concern had spread among Indian Railways passengers that they would now have to pay extra for luggage on trains, similar to air travel policies. This speculation emerged from false reports circulating on social media, which claimed the Railways had fixed weight limits for different travel categories.

For example, First AC passengers will be able to carry 70 kg, Second AC passengers 50 kg, Third AC and Sleeper class passengers 40 kg, and general compartment (second class) passengers will be able to carry only 35 kg of luggag e for free. If the weight is more than this, they will have to pay an extra charge.

However, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has clearly denied all these rumors and news. He clearly said in a conversation with one media outlet that this is not a new rule, nor is there any such proposal.

He reminded us that the decades-old rule is still in force, under which any passenger can carry as much luggage with him in the train (within reasonable limits), and he does not have to pay any extra for it. This statement of the Railway Minister has removed the worry of crores of railway passengers.

On the contrary, the Railways has also given good news to the passengers. On the occasion of the upcoming Diwali and Chhath festivals, when millions of passengers from Bihar and eastern India go to their homes, the Railways will run more than 12,000 additional train services to manage the rush.

This was announced by the Railway Minister in the presence of Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, and some MPs. The aim is to ensure that passengers do not face any trouble during the festival season and everyone can celebrate the festivals with their families without hassle.

In short, the rumors that the Railways is charging money from passengers for extra luggage are completely false. The focus of the Railways is on increasing the convenience of passengers and providing them better service during the festivals, not on putting additional financial burden on them.
