New Delhi: Congress leader and Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi on Thursday renewed his appeal for the November 1 ‘Chalo Delhi’ march at Ramlila Maidan. He urged student groups and citizens across political affiliations to join the opposition’s protest against alleged vote theft and voter irregularities.
In a video message shared on X, the Congress leader described the march as “the soul of India” and called on those opposed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to participate.
“The Chalo Delhi Ramlila March is a march to save democracy, stop vote theft and protect the Constitution. This is not a march by any one political party - it is a march for the soul of India. Everyone who is fed up with Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Gyanesh Kumar, everyone who wants to save democracy and protect the Constitution, please come and join us,” Rahul said.
He urged protesters not to be discouraged by the possibility of police action, asserting that the BJP would not resort to its usual tactics to disrupt the demonstration.
“This is one protest - the protest of the nation. Don't worry about the police, don't worry about lathis. The BJP will not have the guts to try any of its usual antics. Come march with us. We will walk together to protect the Constitution and safeguard the Indian nation,” he said.
Don't worry about the police, don't worry about lathis - the BJP will not have the guts to try any of their antics.
Come march with us - we will walk together to protect the Constitution, to protect the Indian nation.
घबराने की जरूरत नहीं है।
I urge all student groups, regardless of your political affiliation - if you feel that India is under attack, if you feel you are under attack, your expression, your ideas, your way of thinking is under attack, come and join us.
It will be a fantastic march, and it's a march for the soul of this country.
Looking forward to seeing all of you there.

Rahul also appealed directly to student organisations, stressing that participation should not depend on political affiliation. He said the march was intended to bring together people concerned about democratic rights and freedom of expression.
“There is no need to be afraid. I urge all student groups, regardless of their political affiliations, to join us. If you feel that India is under attack, if you feel that you are under attack, that your expression, your ideas and your way of thinking are under attack, come and join us. It will be a fantastic march, a march for the soul of this country,” he added.
The Congress has accused the authorities of voter irregularities and electoral malpractice, making the issue a central part of its campaign against the BJP-led government. The allegations have been rejected by the ruling party, while the opposition has called for greater scrutiny of electoral processes.
The Congress is preparing for a major show of strength at Ramlila Maidan as opposition parties seek to mobilise supporters around the issue of alleged vote theft.
Separately, opposition leaders are preparing for a symbolic “public impeachment” of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar during a mock parliament scheduled for Friday at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

The planned events are part of the opposition’s wider campaign against the Election Commission’s functioning and its allegations of irregularities in the electoral process.
