New Delhi: Amid growing youth participation in politics and the increasing influence of Gen Z voters, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made a major organizational change by appointing Dr Hemang Joshi, Lok Sabha MP from Vadodara, as the new National President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM).

Hemang Joshi succeeds Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, who held the position and thanked the BJP leadership for giving him the opportunity to serve the party’s youth wing. Surya also reflected on his 14-year association with BJYM.

Young Face for BJP’s Gen Z Outreach

Born on January 31, 1991, in Porbandar, Gujarat, Dr Hemang Joshi is seen as a representation of the BJP’s focus on young leadership. The 35-year-old leader completed his higher education from Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara.

Joshi entered active administrative politics in 2022 when he became the Vice-Chairman of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation’s School Committee. Since then, his political journey has witnessed rapid growth.

Rapid Political Rise

Dr Hemang Joshi’s key milestones include:

  • April 2024: Won the Lok Sabha election from Vadodara with a significant margin.
  • May 2025: Became the only Gujarat MP included in the delegation sent abroad for Operation Sindoor.
  • December 2025: Appointed President of the Gujarat BJP Yuva Morcha.

Digital Skills and Youth Connect

Joshi’s clean public image, communication skills, and digital expertise are believed to be among the key reasons behind his appointment.

During his tenure as Vadodara MP, he launched initiatives such as a Digital MP Office and conducted large-scale digital interactions, which helped him gain attention within the BJP organization.

His ability to communicate in Gujarati, Hindi, and English is expected to help the party connect with young voters across different regions. Joshi had also recently been in the national spotlight after filing a complaint related to an incident involving Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Parliament.

With this new responsibility, Dr Hemang Joshi will now lead BJYM’s efforts to strengthen the BJP’s connection with young voters, especially the Gen Z generation.
