Aryan Maan Wins DUSU Election
New Delhi: Counting of votes for the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections concluded today amid high security. Aryan Maan of the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has won the presidential post over Jocelyn Nandita Chaudhary of the Congress-backed National Students' Union of India.
Maan won the President's post with 28,841 votes, while NSUI's Joslyn Chaudhary secured 12,645 votes and SFI-AISA's candidate received 5,385 votes.
For the Vice President post, NSUI's Rahul Jhansla led with 29,339 votes, beating ABVP's Govind Tanwar (20,547 votes) and SFI-AISA (4,163 votes).
ABVP's Kunal Chaudhary won the Secretary position with 23,779 votes, defeating NSUI (16,177 votes) and SFI-AISA (9,535 votes), while Deepika Jha (ABVP) claimed the Joint Secretary post with 21,825 votes, ahead of NSUI (17,380 votes) and SFI-AISA (8,425 votes).
Maan, hailing from Bahadurgarh in Haryana, is a Hansraj College alumnus, currently pursuing postgraduate studies in Library Science at Delhi University. His manifesto promises included subsidised metro passes, free Wi-Fi across campus, better sports facilities, and accessibility audits for students with disabilities.
DUSU Elections 2025: 39.36% voter turnout
As per the reports, of the 1.53 lakh registered voters, 60,272 students cast their ballots, pushing this year’s turnout to 39.36%. The figure marks a small rise from last year’s 35.2%, however is less than the 42% recorded in 2023.
23,000 NOTA votes this year
One distinct feature of this year’s contest was the visible presence of NOTA (“None of the Above”) votes, which crossed 23,000 across various posts-a sign of student dissent or demand for better representation. Voting took place across 52 centres and 195 booths, with over 2.75 lakh eligible students.
