New Delhi: After the completion of the 30-day fasting of the holy month of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr is being celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country today. With the sighting of the moon on Friday evening, mosques announced Eid al-Fitr, and people embraced and greeted each other. The capital, Delhi, witnessed exceptional enthusiasm since morning.

Namaz offered at Jama Masjid

Thousands of devotees offered Eid prayers at Delhi's historic Jama Masjid. Large numbers of people also gathered at various mosques across the city, including the Fatehpuri Masjid and the Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah. After the prayers, people embraced each other, conveying the message of brotherhood and love.

Late-night shopping in markets

With the moonlit night, Delhi's markets reached their peak. Shopping continued late into the night in several areas, including Chandni Chowk, the Jama Masjid area, and Okhla. Large crowds of people were seen in Urdu Bazaar, Matia Mahal, and Chitli Qabar Bazaar. People were seen shopping for new clothes, caps, perfume, vermicelli, and sweets. Children were particularly excited, overjoyed with the new clothes and shoes.

Shoppers at Chitali Qabbar Bazaar reported that they had completed preparations for Eid. Merchants selling vermicelli and dates said they had seen good business this Ramadan, adding to their joy.

Operation of Special Trains for Eid
