Colleagues in the Agriculture Department and regional leaders praised his ability to connect with the public. Naik is survived by his wife, two sons (including former MLA Roy Naik), a daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren, who are active in Goa's civic and political life.
Ravi Naik's political career began in the Municipal Council in the early 1980s and quickly rose to the Assembly from Marcaim. He demonstrated his political acumen under the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, Congress, and BJP.
He was elected as an MLA seven times, six of them from Ponda, and twice served as Chief Minister of Goa, in 1991–1993 and 1994. He also held important positions such as Agriculture, Home, and Deputy Chief Minister.
Naik was a prominent representative of the Bhandari community and a dedicated leader for farmers, laborers, and ordinary Goans. Despite controversies and political ups and downs, his leadership and adaptability kept him at the center of Goa's politics for nearly four decades.
