Major Action Against Illegal Betting Platforms
New Delhi: The government has taken a major step against illegal online gambling and betting platforms, blocking more than 300 websites and mobile applications. According to government sources, this action was taken to curb the growing online betting activity in the country.
The blocked websites and apps fall into several categories. These include online sports betting platforms, online casinos (such as slots, roulette, and live dealer tables), peer-to-peer (P2P) betting exchanges, satta/matka networks, and real money card and casino gaming apps. The government says these platforms were operating illegally without permission.
According to sources, a total of approximately 8,400 such websites and apps have been blocked so far. Of these, approximately 4,900 platforms have been blocked since the new laws related to online gaming came into effect. This shows that the government is continuously monitoring and taking action in this area.
