New Delhi: Congress leader Manish Tewari’s recent comments on the growing public backlash against political entitlement in South and East Asia have sparked a new political controversy. BJP has interpreted his remarks as indirect attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Following this, Tewari told the ruling party to "grow up".

In a post on X, Tewari pointed to recent political shake-ups across the region, including the ousting of Sri Lanka’s President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in July 2023, the fall of Bangladesh’s Sheikh Hasina in July 2024, the removal of Nepal’s KP Sharma Oli in September 2025, and ongoing protests against Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr to underscore what he described as a regional shift away from dynastic politics.

"The toppling of - President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in Sri Lanka in July 2023, Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh in July 2024, KP Sharma Oli in Nepal in September 2025 and now the protests against Ferdinand Marcos Jr in the Philippines have one word written over them. ENTITLEMENT IS NO LONGER ACCEPTABLE TO GEN X, Y, Z," he said. BJP seizes opportunity to target Rahul Gandhi

The BJP swiftly seized on the Lok Sabha MP’s remarks to launch an attack on the Congress leadership.

However, the BJP wasted no time in capitalizing on Tewari’s remarks, drawing a connection to Rahul Gandhi, whom they labeled as the “ultimate Nepo Kid of Indian politics.” Amit Malviya, head of the BJP’s IT cell, posted on X, claiming, “It’s not just Gen Z — even senior Congress leaders are disillusioned with his backward-looking politics. The rebellion is now coming from within the party itself!”
