New Delhi: A video shared by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka shows party leaders and supporters jumping over a gate and entering the Jantar Mantar premises in New Delhi before being detained by Delhi Police on Tuesday. The footage captures protesters carrying Indian flags and raising slogans as police personnel move to stop them.
Delhi Police detained CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka after they breached barricades at Jantar Mantar and took them away in a police bus. A video featuring both leaders has been released following their detention.

Ranka shared the video with the caption, “Hands Off Jantar Mantar!”, as the party challenged the decision to remove the historic site from the list of designated protest venues.
The footage shows CJP spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, along with other supporters, climbing over a gate to enter the premises. The group can be seen carrying flags and raising slogans, including “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Inquilab Zindabad”, before police personnel intervene.
Delhi Police detained Das and Ranka after they reached the site, news agency ANI reported, citing police. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke also said that other party members, including Ajinkya Shinde, had been detained.
The video emerged amid the controversy over the authorities' decision to denotify Jantar Mantar as an official protest venue. CJP has objected to the move, arguing that its planned demonstration should be allowed to proceed.
Reacting to the detentions, Dipke posted on social media: “You cannot denotify the resistance.” The party's protest is linked to its demand for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The Election Commission has denied allegations of political bias in the revision process.
The detentions came a day after Delhi Police announced that Jantar Mantar would no longer be a designated protest venue. Authorities identified Ramlila Ground, Burari Ground and CBD Ground in east Delhi as alternative locations for demonstrations.
The latest incident has brought renewed attention to the restrictions on demonstrations in central Delhi and the CJP's efforts to stage its protest. Police have confirmed the detention of Das and Ranka, while further details about any additional legal action remain awaited.
