Heart Attacks Claim Thousands of Young Lives in Haryana
Chandigarh: Shocking figures have emerged regarding deaths due to heart attacks in Haryana. A government reply presented in the Assembly stated that approximately 18,000 people aged 18 to 45 died from heart failure or heart attack between 2020 and 2026. This information was provided in a written response to a question from a Congress MLA.
According to government data, 2,394 deaths were recorded in 2020, rising to 3,188 in 2021. This figure was followed by 2,796 in 2022, 2,886 in 2023, 3,063 in 2024, and 3,255 in 2025. 391 deaths have been reported so far in January 2026, bringing the total to 17,973.
District-wise data also revealed variations. Yamunanagar district reported a relatively high number of deaths each year, while Rohtak reported significantly lower numbers. Even in a major city like Gurugram, these deaths remained consistent, indicating that the problem exists at varying levels across the state.
The question in the Assembly also sought to know whether these deaths were linked to COVID-19 infection or vaccination. However, the Health Minister clarified that no official survey or study had been conducted on this subject. The government does not have any findings in this regard.
The government stated that at present, no study results or specific actions have been published that could link these deaths to COVID or vaccination. Despite this, the rising death toll remains a matter of concern and is being discussed among health experts.
The increase in deaths from heart attacks among young people in Haryana is a serious sign. Although no clear scientific conclusions have yet emerged regarding its causes, there is a growing need for greater attention to health awareness, regular checkups, and lifestyle modifications.
