Chamba: In a heartbreaking yet powerful display of loyalty, a pit bull in Himachal Pradesh was found guarding the body of its deceased owner for more than four days amid extreme cold and heavy snowfall in the Chamba Valley.

The tragic incident unfolded after Piyush and his cousin went missing during a trekking trip, where they had planned to capture videos of snowfall in the region.

However, the duo were caught in severe weather conditions as a snowstorm swept across the area.

Despite rescue efforts, both men succumbed to the harsh climate before help could reach them.

Dog Refuses to Leave Owner’s Side

When rescue teams finally located Piyush’s body, they were astonished to find his pit bull sitting beside him, refusing to leave. The dog is believed to have survived in sub-zero temperatures while staying close to its owner’s body throughout the ordeal.

The animal was reportedly so protective that it initially resisted rescue personnel from approaching Piyush.

Bodies Recovered, Dog Rescued

Rescuers later recovered the cousin’s body from a nearby mountain slope. Both bodies, along with the dog, were airlifted from the remote location.

A video from the rescue operation shows the dog being led to safety with a muzzle, wagging its tail-seemingly unaware of its owner’s passing-adding an emotional layer to the tragic scene.
