Out of all the places in the state Mandi is among the worst affected district. Here more than 200 roads have been either damaged or completely blocked.
The SDMA said that the death toll from the disaster has risen to 360 since June 20. Out of these 360, as many as 197 deaths have been caused by rain-related incidents such as landslides, flash floods, cloudbursts, drowning, lightning and other weather-related accidents.
The highest rainfall (542.4 mm) was recorded in 1927. This has been revealed in the data released by the Meteorological Center Shimla. 256.8 mm of rain was considered normal in the state in August, but in reality 431.3 mm of rain occurred which is 68 percent more.
There have been incidents of landslides and falling of trees at many places in Shimla. The Khalini-Jhanjhiri road has been broken, while debris has fallen on many other roads, due to which traffic is disrupted.
The highway has been opened for small vehicles.
A yellow alert has been issued in all other states of the country, expressing the possibility of rain.
Anupam Kashyap Deputy Commissioner Shimla in an official order said that all schools and colleges including government and private, ITIs, polytechnics, nursing institutes, and Anganwadi centres will remain closed.
he state is grappling with power cuts, which have affected 1,533 power distribution transformers and 168 water supply schemes till Monday.
The flash floods and landslides have also caused an extensive property damage with as many as 650 houses along with a number of shops, factories, labour sheds, and agricultural assets.
