There have been incidents of landslides and falling of trees at many places in Shimla. The Khalini-Jhanjhiri road has been broken, while debris has fallen on many other roads, due to which traffic is disrupted.
The highway has been opened for small vehicles.
A yellow alert has been issued in all other states of the country, expressing the possibility of rain.
Anupam Kashyap Deputy Commissioner Shimla in an official order said that all schools and colleges including government and private, ITIs, polytechnics, nursing institutes, and Anganwadi centres will remain closed.
he state is grappling with power cuts, which have affected 1,533 power distribution transformers and 168 water supply schemes till Monday.
The flash floods and landslides have also caused an extensive property damage with as many as 650 houses along with a number of shops, factories, labour sheds, and agricultural assets.
Mandi district has the highest number of 192 roads, 303 electricity transformers and 44 water supply schemes closed.
The areas of Panarsa Takoli and Nagwain are the most severely affected. Much debris washed down to the highway as a result of the intense rain on the hills above. Many homes were flooded with mud and water as a result and the floodwaters washed away a number of cars.
Giving information about the relief work Mandi Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan said, “We have set up a relief camp in Vipasha Sadan. Officials from the electricity, PWD, Jal Shakti, and other departments are working together to provide relief.”
