A Landmark Initiative by IFDI and Press Club of India
New Delhi: In a significant step toward inclusive and responsible journalism, the International Foundation for Disability Inclusion (IFDI), in collaboration with the Press Club of India, has launched India’s first journalism fellowship dedicated exclusively to Disability and Inclusion. The initiative aims to strengthen media coverage of disability-related issues by encouraging in-depth, rights-based reporting.
The fellowship is designed to support long-form and investigative journalism that examines disability through the lenses of human rights, public policy, governance, and accountability. Organizers emphasize that disability must be reported not as a subject of charity or sympathy, but as a matter of constitutional rights, systemic equity, and social justice.
Under this program, up to 10 journalists will be selected as fellows. Each fellow will receive a grant of ₹2,00,000, enabling them to work on detailed reporting projects over a six-month period. The fellowship is open to journalists, reporters, and writers committed to producing thoughtful, evidence-based stories that can influence public discourse and policy outcomes.
The organizers are encouraging media professionals and institutions to spread awareness about the fellowship so it reaches journalists who are passionate about meaningful storytelling. By nurturing quality journalism in this underreported area, the fellowship aims to amplify voices and stories that often remain unheard in mainstream media.
Applications for the fellowship are currently open. Interested candidates can apply through the official website.
Application Deadline: 15 February 2026
