IMD issues red alert in HP; Heavy rains predict in in many state

A yellow alert has been issued in all other states of the country, expressing the possibility of rain.

Shimla: The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday.

At the same time, the IMD is expected to be normal in most areas of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

The weather department has also issued an orange alert for Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Apart from this, a yellow alert has been issued in all other states of the country, expressing the possibility of rain.

According to IMD, there is a possibility of heavy rain in coastal areas of Karnataka and central part of Maharashtra.

Warning has been issued for these places.
At the same time, an alert has been issued in Himachal Pradesh for Thursday and Friday.

In such a situation, the administration is alert here. Heavy rains in Himachal, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir have caused a lot of destruction in the last few days.

584 roads closed in Himachal Pradesh

A total of 584 roads are closed in 10 out of 12 districts of Himachal Pradesh and reports from Chamba and Lahaul-Spiti districts are yet to be received. According to the Centre, out of the closed roads, 259 are in Mandi district and 167 in Kullu.

Orange alert for coastal areas in Karnataka

Many parts of the state, including Karnataka capital Bengaluru, received heavy rains on Wednesday, leading to traffic jams at major intersections. Bengaluru recorded 4.3 mm rainfall between 9 am and 5:30 pm, while coastal districts like Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada received heavy rains, prompting the IMD to issue an 'orange' alert. The weather department said heavy rainfall is expected in several districts till August 30 and an 'orange' alert has been issued for coastal, Malnad, northern interior and southern interior regions till August 29.

Rain in many parts of Delhi
Many parts of Delhi received rain on Wednesday. The IMD has forecast more rain. The IMD has also warned of traffic disruptions and slippery roads, possible damage to horticulture and standing crops and partial damage to weak structures including damage to kutcha houses, walls and huts. The weather department has advised people to follow traffic advisories, stay indoors as much as possible, keep windows and doors closed, avoid taking shelter under trees and stay away from water bodies and electrical installations. The IMD has urged people not to touch live electric wires or stand near poles and to immediately move to a safe place in case of heavy rain. According to the CPCB, Delhi's air is clean. The AQI was 71 on Wednesday.
