
IMD warns heavy rain & strong winds across 19 states
New Delhi: The weather across the country is set to take a turn once again. The weather patterns observed during the last week of May are expected to persist into the beginning of June.
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for rain and storms across 19 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, for June 1st.
According to the IMD, these rains and storms will be accompanied by winds gusting up to 90 kilometers per hour. People have been advised to exercise caution.
Which states are under a rain warning?
The Meteorological Department has also issued warnings regarding hailstorms in several states. For June 1st, an alert for torrential rain accompanied by severe storms has been issued for 19 states across the country: UP, Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, Tripura, and Nagaland.
Relief from the Heat for the Public
For those currently enduring the scorching heat, the coming few days will bring some relief. Rain accompanied by heavy thunder is likely across Northwest, Central, and Eastern India. These rains will provide respite to people from the heat. In Uttar Pradesh, a rain alert has been issued for the cities of Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, and Varanasi.
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for severe storms and rain specifically for Delhi. Along with the rain, winds are expected to blow at speeds ranging from 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.
Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, an alert for severe storms and heavy rainfall has been issued for June 1st. There is also a possibility of heavy rain accompanied by storms in Bihar and Jharkhand, where wind speeds could reach 80 to 85 kilometers per hour.
