New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India Energy Week 2026 via video conferencing. Delegates from 125 countries participated in the event held in Goa. PM Modi stated that India Energy Week has, in a very short time, become a global platform that provides opportunities for dialogue and action.

India is a hub of opportunities in energy sector

PM Modi stated that India has become a hub of rapidly growing opportunities in the energy sector. The country's economy is among the fastest-growing in the world. Demand for energy products in India is continuously increasing, and the country is capable of meeting global demand. He highlighted India's export potential, stating that India is today among the top five exporters of petroleum products and ships goods to over 150 countries.

India-EU Free Trade Agreement

The Prime Minister described the free trade agreement between India and the European Union as the "mother of all deals," saying it will bring huge opportunities for trade, investment, manufacturing, and employment. He said that this agreement represents approximately 25 percent of global GDP and one-third of global trade. PM Modi also cited this as an example of synergy between two major economies.

Strengthening manufacturing and service sectors

PM Modi stated that this agreement will strengthen India's manufacturing sector. People working in sectors such as textiles, leather, footwear, gems, and jewelry will benefit. Furthermore, the service sector and investor confidence will also be strengthened. This agreement also demonstrates a shared commitment to democracy and the rule of law.
