Addressing a gathering in Kochi, the Prime Minister said the government is closely monitoring developments linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran and the United States. He stressed that protecting Indian nationals abroad remains a top priority.
Government Monitoring Situation Closely
Speaking at the Golden Jubilee Sammelan of the Akhila Kerala Dheevara Sabha, Modi said India today has the capacity and commitment to assist its citizens during international crises.
“India does not leave its citizens stranded abroad,” the Prime Minister said. He added that the government is coordinating efforts through diplomatic missions to provide necessary assistance to Indians living and working across the Gulf region.
Officials said Indian embassies and consulates in several West Asian countries are actively in contact with the Indian community and are monitoring the evolving security situation.
Appreciation for Gulf Nations
During his address, the Prime Minister also thanked Gulf countries for ensuring the safety and welfare of Indian expatriates amid the ongoing tensions.
He acknowledged the cooperation of host nations in supporting the large Indian diaspora working in the region. Millions of Indians live and work across West Asia, making it one of the largest overseas communities for India.
