42 flights were cancelled in Bengaluru, 38 in Delhi, 25 in Ahmedabad, 11 in Indore, 19 in Hyderabad, 8 in Surat, and 10 in Kolkata. Long queues were seen at Hyderabad and Delhi airports. Passengers' frustrations were also evident on social media, where they criticized the airline.

Passengers Facing Difficulties

Due to a system malfunction at IndiGo, manual check-in is taking an additional 25-40 minutes. Baggage drop and security checks are also experiencing delays. While many flights are still operating, passengers are facing considerable inconvenience.

Reasons for Cancellations

According to IndiGo, the main reasons for the flight cancellations are technical malfunctions, staff shortages, and bad weather. However, the Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) has denied this. The FIP claims that the airline's long-standing policy of employing fewer pilots is the root cause of the problem.

Impact of New DGCA Regulations

Recently, the DGCA changed the rules for pilots. Pilots will now get 48 hours of rest per week, compared to 36 hours previously. Additionally, fatigue and complaints must be recorded in health reports every three months. These changes are contributing to shift disruptions and staff shortages.

IndiGo Airlines has apologized for the inconvenience caused to passengers. The company stated that operations would return to normal within the next 48 hours. They attributed the flight disruptions to bad weather and system malfunctions.

Challenge for Passengers

This crisis in IndiGo's flight operations has become a major challenge for passengers. Technical problems, staff shortages, and new DGCA regulations are causing long queues and flight cancellations at airports across the country.
