Indian batsman Rinku Singh’s father has passed away due to liver cancer. The BCCI clarified that Rinku is not ruled out of the T20 World Cup but will not play the next Super 8 match against the West Indies.

New Delhi: The morning of February 27th brought very sad news for the Indian cricket team's star batsman Rinku Singh. His father, Khanchandra Singh, passed away. He had been battling liver cancer for a long time, and his health had been deteriorating. After his condition worsened, he was admitted to Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida on February 21st. This has been a very difficult time for the family.
According to reports, as soon as Rinku Singh learned of his father's deteriorating health, he left to be with his family despite being with the team. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia informed that Rinku arrived in Greater Noida from Chennai at around 5 am, where his father was undergoing treatment. The BCCI extends its deepest condolences to Rinku and his family.
The biggest question that has been raised is whether Rinku Singh has been ruled out of the 2026 T20 World Cup following the death of his father. The BCCI has clarified that Rinku is not currently out of the entire tournament. However, he will not play the next Super 8 match against the West Indies. This match is to be played in Kolkata and is considered a virtual quarterfinal for Team India.
This match against the West Indies is crucial, as the winning team will become the second semifinalist from Group 1. Rinku's absence could pose both an emotional and strategic challenge for the team.
