Abhijeet Dipke Alleges Assault By Delhi Police (Img: X)
New Delhi: A protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi turned tense on Saturday after Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke alleged that he was assaulted and detained by the Delhi Police, while activist Sonam Wangchuk was taken to a hospital after spending 20 days on an indefinite hunger strike.

In a post on X, Dipke claimed that he had been beaten and detained by the Delhi Police. "I have been beaten up and put under detention by Delhi Police," he wrote.

In another post, he alleged that police prevented him from leaving the place where he was staying and claimed that Wangchuk was being forcibly removed from the protest site. He also alleged that students participating in the protest were subjected to a lathi-charge.
According to initial reports, Sonam Wangchuk, who had been on an indefinite hunger strike for the past 20 days, was taken to a hospital by the Delhi Police.
There was no immediate official statement from the Delhi Police regarding the circumstances under which Wangchuk was shifted or on Dipke's allegations of assault and detention.

The CJP-led protest at Jantar Mantar has been demanding accountability over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Wangchuk joined the agitation on June 28 and has remained on an indefinite fast since then.
