Ranchi: A major encounter took place between security forces and militants of the banned organization Jharkhand Janmukti Parishad (JJMP) in Gumla district of Jharkhand on Saturday morning.
The incident took place in the Lavadag forest of Ghaghra police station area, where a joint team of police and Jharkhand Jaguar took action and killed three militants.
Gumla Superintendent of Police Haris Bin Zaman said that he had received secret information that the militants of the JJMP organization were planning to carry out a major incident. Taking immediate action on this input, the district police and the Jharkhand Jaguar team conducted an intensive search operation in the Lavadag area. Meanwhile, the militants hiding in the forest started indiscriminate firing on the security forces, in response to which the police also retaliated.
In this fierce encounter, three militants were killed on the spot, while other militants managed to escape by taking advantage of the dense forest. After the encounter ended, the security forces conducted a search operation at the spot.
