Srinagar: Security forces and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched multiple search operations at four locations in the border district of Poonch on Friday to track suspected terrorist movements, officials said.
The operations follow heightened security measures after a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) blast near the Krishna Ghati sector along the Line of Control (LoC), in which four suspected terrorists from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir were reportedly killed. The latest searches also come days after security personnel recovered arms and ammunition from a suspected terrorist hideout in the Satharban forests.
Officials said an automatic rifle, six hand grenades and ammunition were recovered during the operation to dismantle the suspected hideout.
As part of the latest security drive, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Gursai launched a search operation across the Gursai-Harooni-Baidhar belt in Mendhar sub-division.

In a separate operation, the SOG Mendhar, accompanied by the Army’s Rashtriya Rifles, searched Dharana village, Kashmir Mohalla, Behri forest and adjoining areas.
Meanwhile, the SOG Mankote launched a search operation in the Manglanu-Chilla forest areas under the jurisdiction of Mankote police post.
Officials said the operations are intended to strengthen the security grid, track possible terrorist movements and prevent suspected militants from exploiting forested terrain and border areas.
