New Delhi: The Indian Army on Tuesday foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district and neutralised one intruder during an operation in the Krishna Ghati sector, officials said.

According to the Army, alert troops detected suspicious movement near the forward area and responded swiftly to prevent any breach along the border.

Suspicious Movement Detected Near Krishna Ghati Sector

The incident took place in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch along the LoC during the evening hours. The Army’s White Knight Corps said troops noticed suspicious activity around 300 metres inside Indian territory at approximately 4 pm.

Security personnel immediately challenged the suspected infiltrators, which led to an exchange of fire in the forward area.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, the White Knight Corps said troops acted on persistent surveillance inputs and successfully foiled the infiltration bid before the intruders could move deeper into the region.

Army Says One Intruder Neutralised

During the operation, one intruder was killed by the Army. Officials said troops maintained control of the area and ensured there was no breach of the LoC.

Security forces have continued search and domination operations in the surrounding region to rule out the possibility of additional infiltrators. The Army said troops remain on high operational alert across the sector amid continued attempts by terrorists to infiltrate from across the border.

Possible Terror Link Under Investigation

Sources indicated that the intruder was suspected to have links with the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. Officials said the infiltrator was reportedly attempting to cross into Indian territory near the Bicho Post area in Mankote.

However, security agencies are carrying out further verification regarding the identity and affiliations of the deceased intruder.

Security Tightened Along Border Areas

The latest infiltration attempt comes amid heightened security deployment along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir. Forces have increased surveillance and monitoring in vulnerable sectors following intelligence inputs regarding possible cross-border movement.

Army officials said troops are maintaining strict vigilance across forward areas to prevent infiltration attempts and ensure border security.

The operation also highlights the Army’s continued focus on real-time surveillance and rapid response mechanisms along sensitive sectors of the LoC.
