Tractor falls into ditch in Bagalkot killing four
Bengaluru: At least four laborers, including a two-year-old child, were killed after a tractor they were travelling in plunged into a ditch in Bagalkote district in the early hours of Saturday.
Police said, "The accident occurred around 2 AM when the trailer of a tractor returning from sugarcane harvesting detached and fell into the ditch." According to police, the accident occurred near Katte Kere in Jamkhandi taluk of Bagalkot district.
The migrant workers were employed in agriculture and hailed from Maharashtra.
Deceased Identified
The deceased have been identified as Manish Pandey (23), a resident of Gupwadi in Busa taluk of Yavatmal district, Maharashtra, along with two-year-old Halaki Pandey, Lakshmi Chirmadi (27), and Rekha Bhuke. "All four victims were migrant laborers from Maharashtra.
There were about 20 people on board the tractor at the time of the accident.
